What to Pack for a Caribbean Cruise

If you’re anything like me, the excitement of a Caribbean cruise can be overwhelming—and the packing? Even more so. After going on over 20 cruises, I’ve learned that packing right from the get-go is the key. Over the years, I’ve perfected my packing list, and I’m here to share it with you! Whether it’s your first cruise or a seasoned cruiser like me, these tips will ensure you’re prepared for everything, from beach days to elegant dinners. Trust me, I’ve got your back when it comes to packing for the Caribbean!

Below, you’ll find my personal Caribbean cruise packing list that you can download and print, perfect for ensuring you don’t miss a thing before you set sail!

What to Wear: Caribbean Cruise Edition

When it comes to packing for the Caribbean, you need to be ready for a variety of activities—from exploring beautiful beaches to enjoying formal dinners aboard the ship. Here’s what I recommend you pack to stay comfortable and stylish.

Casual Clothing

I can’t stress enough how important it is to bring lightweight, breathable clothing. I always pack a few pairs of shorts and shirts made of cotton or linen, ideal for lounging on deck or heading to the beach. A skort with pockets is a must for me—I always need somewhere to stash my phone.

Light Jacket or Sweatshirt

Even though it’s usually sunny and warm, I always bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, especially for those cooler evenings or air-conditioned spots on the ship. Plus, I love having a sweater for the flight there!

Swimwear Essentials

When cruising in the Caribbean, you will be in and out of the water a lot. I always pack at least three swimsuits to rotate between, and rash guards are a must for protecting against the intense sun. Pro tip: Bring extra if you’re cruising with kids—they’ll be in and out of the pool all day, and you’ll be grateful for the backup.

Water Shoes & Flip Flops

Trust me, you’ll need both! Water shoes are perfect for snorkeling or kayaking, and flip flops are a no-brainer for the beach or poolside.

Eveningwear

While many cruises have a relaxed dress code, I like to dress up a bit for special dinners and photos. Whether it’s a captain’s dinner or a gala night, having a nice outfit to slip into makes those evenings even more memorable. Don’t forget dressy shoes that are comfortable enough for a night of walking around the ship and a clutch to hold your essentials.

Activewear

Even if you’re not a gym buff, it’s worth packing a pair of sneakers and some gym clothes. I’ve regretted not having workout gear on sea days when I had some downtime and wanted to hit the ship’s fitness center.

Accessories & Must-Haves

Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a beach bag are non-negotiables. But I also recommend bringing a waterproof phone case to protect your device during water activities and a portable charger for all those sea day movie marathons!

Caribbean Cruise Accessories

I’ve learned that it’s not just about what you wear—it’s the little things that make your trip smoother. Here’s a quick list of accessories that should make your cruise a breeze:

  • Mesh Laundry Bag for dirty clothes
  • Snorkeling Gear (if you’re an avid snorkeler like me)
  • Bug Spray—I’m a mosquito magnet, so I always bring a bottle with DEET.
  • Waterproof Camera for capturing those underwater memories
  • Tote Bag for beach days—trust me, you’ll need one!
  • Refillable Water Bottle to stay hydrated and avoid buying pricey water on board

What to Pack in Your Caribbean Cruise Overnight Bag

On embarkation day, your luggage may take a few hours to arrive in your cabin. To avoid waiting around, pack the essentials in your carry-on bag:

  • Bathing Suit (for those first-day poolside dips)
  • Sunblock and Swim Goggles
  • Change of Clothes (sometimes your cabin isn’t ready until dinner)
  • Medications (keep them on hand, especially if you have special needs like I do for my son’s allergies)

Cruising to the Caribbean is an exciting experience, but making sure you pack the right items can make all the difference. With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying every moment, whether at sea or soaking up the sun on a beautiful beach!
